The History (Muay Boran)

Muay Boran, the general term of unarmed combat of Ayutthaya (Thailand). The origin of Muay Thai.
While Muay Thai is also known as "The Science Of Eight Limbs", which utilizes eight "weapons" of the body e.g Punches, Kicks, Elbows and Knees, The Muay Boran is known to use the nawa awut or "Nine Weapons", adding headbutts to their arsenal of strikes.( If Mike Tyson was in their days, it might be Ten Weapons, adding biting of ears to the library as well.)

Interesting Fact:-

When the Thais were invaded by the Burmese, they brought back a group of Thai prisoners with them.
The best part is, most of the prisoners are THAI BOXERS. (Now why would someone do that...).
Anyways, the Burmese King, King Mangra as the Thais called it, decided to organize a seven days festival. This festival consists of comedy acts sword fighting etc. but no merry-go-rounds. At one point,
the King wanted to see how a Thai Boxer would fair against one of his champions. So one of them (Nai Khanom Tom) was chose to fight.

What happened next? The same thing that happens when you try to brand a horse's ass. The Burmese champion got his ass kicked. But the referee (of course, a Burmese) claimed that the champion was distracted by the Wai Khru performed by Nai Khanom Tom before the fight. So the Burmese king offered him to fight nine other Burmese, including a boxing teacher, to prove himself. So the horse gets to kick nine other asses, or in other words, he defeated all of them claiming his freedom from the King.

Some version of the story said that he claimed his freedom and left for Siam with 2 Burmese wives.
Another version said that he claimed the freedom of his other prisoned comrades.

[Information extracted from Wikipedia. I just tell the story the way I see it. ;)]
